WHAT IS HYPERBARIC TREATMENT?
The P- Treatment provides Hard Tank Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy(HBOT). This (HBOT) therapy consists of using pure oxygen at increased pressure, leading to increased oxygen levels in the blood (Hyperoxemia) and tissue (Hyperoxia).
The increased pressure and high oxygen bioavailability, particularly in oxygen starved regions, exert many effects including: antimicrobial, immunomodulatory and angiogenic properties. True Hyperbaric treatment, according to the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS), should equal or exceed 1.4 atmospheres (ATM) and all UHMS-approved indications require that patients breathe near 100% oxygen while enclosed in a chamber pressurized to a minimum of 2 ATM. Soft Shell Hyperbaric or Soft bag treatments only reach 1.3 ATM of pressure. It is not possible for a soft shell to hold high pressure. Soft shell systems were designed for short term altitude sickness stabilization until a medical team could intervene and return a patient to lower altitude.
WHY THIS WORKS:
For many years, the impressive health results from HBOT therapy were noted and researched. There are over 10,000 published articles on: improved cognition, increased wound healing, improved immune system, improved ability to clear mold toxins, improvement in chronic fatigue, increased oxidative strength and improvements in sleep.
In 2019, Semenza won the Nobel Prize in Physiology for work identifying Hypoxia Inducible factors. Basically, within cells there are specific sensors named Hypoxia-inducible factors (HIF) that under hypoxic conditions will bind to the hypoxia response element (HRE), and trigger cellular processes.. The exposure to intermittent hyperoxia shares many of the mediators and cellular mechanisms which are induced by hypoxia. This is called the hyperoxic-hypoxic paradox. HBOT upregulates HIF, by increasing ROS/RNS and Extracellular Regulated Kinases (ERK1/ERK2) pathway. These mechanisms result in compensatory overall body increases of antioxidant systems, immune systems, and mitochondrial systems.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The P-Treatment’s Hyperbaric Oxygen tank is a roomy chamber with windows, designed large enough to treat two individuals simultaneously. However, The P-Treatment, in accordance with the Town of Vail, is allowed to only treat one person in the tank at a time. Even those with claustrophobia have done well in our chambers.
1.You must have a prescription and clearance from your physician or from ours.
2. You will be be greeted and asked to sign consents if not signed.
3. You will be asked to change clothing into scrubs.
4. You will have a communication check with both hand signs and walkie talkie.
5. You will enter the chamber and place the oxygen mask on your face.
6.. You will be walked through the rest of the dive and will be checked on throughout the experience. Most individuals sleep.
